Your itinerary
01Arrival and transfer to Karatu
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), you’ll be warmly greeted by your professional driver-guide, who will accompany you throughout your safari journey. With expert local knowledge and warm hospitality, they will ensure a smooth and memorable start to your adventure. Travel Note: If your flight arrives early in the day, you may continue with a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Karatu. This not only allows you to settle into the peaceful highlands but also reduces tomorrow’s journey to Serengeti from nearly 8 hours to approximately 4.5 hours, giving you more time to enjoy wildlife experiences and less time on the road. If your arrival is later in the evening or at night, we recommend an overnight stay in Arusha for proper rest before your safari begins. Upon arrival at your lodge, take time to unwind and soak in the tranquil surroundings. If time allows, enjoy a gentle stroll, browse local craft shops, or simply relax and enjoy the cool highland atmosphere. End the day with a delightful dinner prepared with fresh local ingredients before settling in for a peaceful night, surrounded by the serenity of Tanzania’s beautiful landscapes — the perfect beginning to your romantic safari experience.
02Into the Serengeti
After an early breakfast, set off on a breathtaking 4–5 hour journey to the legendary Serengeti. Your route winds through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with chances to pause for panoramic photos of sweeping highlands and wildlife along the way. By midday, the endless golden plains of the Serengeti unfold before you — alive with grazing herds, prowling big cats, and the rhythm of untamed Africa. Enjoy your first thrilling game drives en route to camp, keeping watch for lions lounging in the shade, cheetahs on the hunt, and elephants crossing the open savannah. Break for a scenic picnic lunch in the wild before continuing your afternoon exploration. As the sun begins to set, arrive at your lodge or tented camp, where the sounds of the Serengeti will lull you into your first night under its star-filled skies.
03A full day in the Serengeti
Wake to the first light spilling across the plains and the distant calls of the wild. After breakfast, set out for a full day of game drives through one of Africa’s most celebrated landscapes. Traverse golden savannahs dotted with acacia trees, scanning for the Big Five — lions resting in the shade, cheetahs surveying the horizon, elephants marching in family herds, and leopards concealed among rocky kopjes. Zebra and wildebeest graze in vast numbers, while hippos and crocodiles patrol the park’s waterways. Pause midday for a picnic lunch in the heart of the wilderness before continuing your adventure into the afternoon. As the sun dips low, return to camp to relax, share stories around the fire, and soak in the Serengeti’s magic under a canopy of stars.
04Ngorongoro Crater
Rise with the sun and enjoy an early breakfast before leaving the Serengeti behind. Journey into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the land suddenly opens into one of nature’s greatest marvels — the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend 600 meters to the crater floor, a wildlife haven often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” Here, Africa’s Big Five roam alongside vast herds of zebra, wildebeest, and gazelle, while hippos laze in sparkling pools and flamingos paint the lakeshores pink. Your expert guide will lead you through this extraordinary ecosystem, sharing fascinating insights into its history and wildlife. Pause midday for a picnic lunch surrounded by breathtaking views, then continue exploring until the late afternoon. As the day draws to a close, ascend the crater rim and make your way to Karatu. Arrive at your lodge in time for a warm dinner and a peaceful evening in the highlands.
